causa / CHRISTOPH kathrin (collage) & KALWEIT annet (sculpture)

In the beginning there was form; cube and sphere, beam and arch, lines, stripes, rays and more. The graphically defined architectures in Kathrin Christoph's picture collages and the solitary, hermetic object-like quality of Annett Kallweit's sculptures stem from very different artistic ambitions, which are not only rooted in the polarity of the materials and genres; bronze casting and paper cutting. Nevertheless, an exciting connection unites the works of both artists. They overcome the cool, sharp-edged exactness of geometry and breathe life into it. The abstract becomes subjective and intimate, almost emotional.
